Tyres (Tires): Getting a Safe Grip on the Road

Styrene is a key component of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), a synthetic rubber. SBR gives tyres (tires) better road-hugging ability, especially on wet roads, for a safer ride for both driver and passengers. SBR also increases tyre (tire) mileage. Styrenic polymers are even used in the road: a product containing styrene used in road surfaces can extend pavement life by up to 50%, which means less maintenance and more travel miles for your taxpayer money.
