Uses and benefits
You may be surprised….
how important products manufactured using styrene are to the quality of
your daily life. Taking your morning shower, fixing meals in the kitchen,
commuting in your car, working on your computer, and an evening watching
television all depend on styrene-based products. As you'll see, most of
us encounter and use dozens of products made from styrene during the course
of a normal day.
Styrene is a key component in making a variety of important materials, as
well as synthetic rubber. Probably the most recognisable material is polystyrene.

(ABS) plastic (more

about SAN), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) (more

Styrene-based materials offer unique characteristics of durability, high
performance, versatility of design, simplicity of production, and economy.
They can provide excellent hygiene, sanitation, and safety benefits. And
many of these products offer very good insulation qualities and the ability
to be recycled where collection systems are made availabe, making sound
use of our natural resources. In many cases, styrene helps create products
that are very unique, and for which there are few effective substitutes.
The following is only a sampling to show the tremendous impact styrene
has on the things that shape and enhance our daily lives.
